Nuclear companies together with universities and academic partners have succeeded in building a broader coalition together with local communities, women and youth to explain why nuclear energy is a solution for emerging markets. The nuclear industry has committed to the principles of a circular economy where continuous education was a crucial element. The modern ecosystem of nuclear education encompasses different generations and goes beyond ‘primary to higher’ schools concept.

Blended education, knowledge-sharing communities, skills competitions, AR and VR applications and many other innovative formats applied today by nuclear organizations all over the world raise the bar higher and allow scaling the human capacity building process at different level.

All of these practices and many more have proved that the nuclear industry has a massive social impact that can translate though education into emerging markets with a great potential.

Session description:

The session will highlight the social impact associated with potential of nuclear education and training in unlocking human potential and helping our societies and economies to prosper. Today, the world of STEM education and skills development is rapidly changing to support the growing need of industries and governments in sustainable talent pipelines and barrier-free access to labor markets for vulnerable groups. The speakers will discuss the relevant cases related to educating the present and the next generation of professionals in the developed nuclear energy markets, including women in STEM, youth and the local communities. Moreover, we will address the role of education in the emerging nuclear energy countries, particularly in Africa.
